In 1826, André Kœchlin and his associates ran the first hand-baked ovens and a mechanical manufacturing workshop to the west of Alsace, which Alsatians called "Giasserai", which means "foundry" in Alsatian.
For about 170 years, the company's ups and downs, and finally had inexorably declined at the beginning of the 1990 years. Towards product reductions to manufacturers know-how reductions, were shelled into nothingness. In November 1997, the furnaces of the foundry have exalted their last smoke blast in rusty tones.
What is left of all this? Men, their memories, and their images captured by Didier Chambon, while he was part of this serial. Touching images, sometimes striking, a industrial world huanted by fire-breathing monsters, magnificent 20th century chiaroscuro, that's all what Didier Chambon invites us to share in this all-pictures which must come from another time... in 1995!
